Katie's Team won STATE CHAMPIONSHIP for 2010! Katie was the starting setter with 608 assist out of the season and Katie is only in 10th Grade. Way to go girls we are so proud of you!

cinco de mayo

Today is cinco de mayo so- go have a margarita and eat some mexican food to celebrate.
I will be cooking tacos and guacamole and a pitcher of good cold margaritas for dinner tonight!

back to blogging

I know, I have been neglecting my blog. I have missed it but I have been so busy with everyday life. The travel volleyball is now officially over. Hoot hoot! I am so happy. We have been traveling every other weekend since Jan. and I am so wore out from it.
Also Jacob has been struggling in school and I have been working with him every night helping him and I also decided to have him tested for ADHD. Which is what he has and we have started some medication. I can already see a difference in him at home and at school. He also has started baseball, so between volleyball practice 2 nights a week and baseball games at least 2 nights a week- you can see I have not had time to think about blogging.
But..... i am back.
WE had terrible storms and at least 12 inches of rain this weekend. Got some things done around the house cause you could not plan any outdoor activities.
Also to update you on the last post I did about Baby Hogan. He lost his battle just 16 days after he was born. He was such a fighter. Bless you Hogan!

I wanted to share with you this story or blog on this family from my hometown who just had their 3rd child who was born with Trisomy 18. He is such a fighter and his parents are amazing with their faith and prayers to save their precious baby Hogan.

ipad

The new ipad became available on Saturday and it is awesome. Must have one!
Katie's ipod touch had frozen up and we had tried to reset it and it still did not work so the support person online suggested we take it back to the apple store and get them to replace it. So we had to make an appt to take it to the store ( which is in Germantown) There was a long line of people to get in to see or buy the new ipad. So to make a long story short they replaced the ipod touch with a new one and we got to play on the new ipad. SWEET!

Haiti

About 2 weeks ago my husband got the opportunity to go to Haiti to represent his company FedEx. He has been extremely busy with an organization called Heart to Heart International. He helps them with their shipments of supplies (medical and etc) to these disaster areas all over the U.S.and other countries. They invited he and his partner (Karen) that work closely with them to travel with Heart to Heart to see how their help has a tremendous impact on their goal of helping people in need.

For Christmas one year my very dear friend Dinah gave me the most special gift I have every received and I will cherish it for-EVER. Thought I would share with you my special bracelet.

She had each charm written out on paper with the purpose and meaning for each one.
Birthstone charm- for the year I was born(March)
Hearts- for our sisterly love and bond for one another
Suitcase- for our GIRL trips.
Florida and Seagulls- for our great trips to Florida and so I don't forget what a seagull is. (inside joke)
Cellphone- for all our phone calls to each other
Sun- for our love of sunshine and the beach

the volleyball team all went out to lunch Saturday after our game and we went to flip burger boutique(birmingham)

Can't say that I have ever had a flip burger and can't say if I ever will again. Let me just say this place is Hip,Different, not really me. Not that Iam not Hip- ha ha
There is only 2 locations - atlanta- can so see this being a big hit there and birmingham at the summit.

The burgers were not like a regular burger. they have crab,shrimp and goat cheese like burgers. Not that there is anything wrong with that I just don't want my crab or shrimp on a hamburger bun!

what I'am reading...

I hate when I start a book and can't put it down. This is the guy who wrote the "Notebook". This book is being made into a movie. The star of the book will be Miley Cyrus. I can so see her in this role. His other book "Dr. John" is out at the movies now. I love the way he is a southern writer and all his books are based in the Carolina's.

ice storm twenty ten

we had a small ice storm here on friday and schools closed. John and I worked all day. The roads were not too bad but everything froze overnight and made it all worse on Saturday. We had a volleyball tournament in downtown Memphis this weekend and we did extremely good. We placed 2nd in the silver divison. The girls got metals again and they were so excited.

my favorite cupcake shop from nashville opened friday in memphis. siked about that!



John, Jacob and Katie went duck hunting on friday night and sat. So I had the night to myself and it was wonderful. Here is a cute pic of Jacob and his hunting buddy from jonesboro ark.

on sunday we traveled back to jonesboro for a volleyball tournament and we won the silver championship!
