Christmas

Christmas this year was one we will not forget. We spent Christmas in Georgia with my family for the first time in 15 years. It was great being with everyone. We had Christmas Eve with my brother Mike and Suzan and there were about 16 of us there for dinner. They had the food catered and we had Fish, fried shrimp, hushpuppies, french fries, coleslaw and of course a Georgia tradition cheese grits. In Georgia you can't have a fish fry with out the grits.
They set up tables and the food in their car garage. Their garage is nicer than some peoples houses.

yes- there is a christmas tree in their garage! nice huh!
So, with all the Christmas stuff put away and waiting for the new year to come in I have a list of " want to do's for the year"
1. Clean out closets and box up the kids clothes for consignment.
2. do some painting in the house
3. Get the downstairs hardwood floors down. ( one room at a time)
4. Exercise at the "y" at least 2- 3 nights a week
5. Start scrapbooking again- way way too behind in this.
6. LOSE WEIGHT
I will keep you posted on all my progress!

oh my

My mother-n-law accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of her brake as she pulled into her garage the other day and this is what it looks like

She really did a number on the wall. She and the car were ok. Already getting it fixed and hopefully this won't happen again.

my famous "no name cookies"

I make these cookies every Christmas and they really have no name and I have never seen them in a recipe book,
so I call them my ritz cracker cookies

This is all there is to them. Spread crunchy peanut butter on a ritz and put another ritz on top and dip in melted almond bark.

drunk reindeer

every year at work, I put out these cute little reindeer's, and every year everyone says they look drunk. So these are my drunk reindeer. I found these cute little drunks at a dollar store about 5-6 years ago and at the time I bought them I didn't realize they spelled NOEL until someone pointed it out to me. Maybe too much eggnog!

button tree

For the last year my friend Colby and I made these button trees. This one was mine. Colby's was much cuter than mine. It looks better in person than in this picture. They were so fun to make. Its hard to find alot of buttons to make them. We got the idea from a website we visit regularly (two peas in a bucket) its a scrapbook and craft website with ideas and message boards - you can spend hours looking at stuff on it.

well I shopped while the rest of the family went to Arkansas and did this

my duck hunting family!
They left me all alone (yeah) for 1/2 day Friday and 1/2 day on Saturday. I wrapped all my presents I have bought and ordered my Christmas cards online and picked them up and got the tree up but it's not finished yet, they were suppose to put the ornaments on but I have yet to see any.
Back to the grind of school and work tomorrow. YUCK!

Happy Thanksgiving

We spent this Thanksgiving here at home with us and John' Mom. John deep fried the turkey, I cooked mom's dressing, green beans, fresh corn and rolls and for desert we had key lime pie.
I am most grateful for my family, my home, my parents, having a job and our health. I ran across this quote the other day and I want to share it with you.

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Hope each and everyone had a safe and thankful holiday today.
Now, I'am off to check out the sale ads and get my game plan on for hitting the stores at the wee hours of the morning!

I can't believe that some of these stores will be opening at 4 am. I can assure you I will not be one standing in the cold in line at some store parking lot waiting for them to open at 4 AM
I might get up for a (maybe 6 maybe not- more like 7 am openings)

movies ....movies

this is the big weekend for us "twilight" freaks! yes , I am one of them.

I will not be attending the midnight showing tomorrow night! no, I can wait till the weekend to see it. I hope its as good as I want it to be.
Also Katie and I will be going to see this new movie that opens up Friday too.

This movie is a true story about a Memphis couple who takes in this homeless boy and
and he plays football at Ole Miss and goes on to play professional football. Sandra Bullock and Tim Mcgraw star as this couple. did I mention Tim Mcgraw- oh yes that in its self is worth going to see- ha ha

this is a picture of the real couple the movie was based on. It took place here in Memphis but the filming of the movie was done in Georgia.
So if your plans call for movies this weekend - here are two good flicks to check out.

Speaking of Christmas shopping- I am very close to being finished ! Woot Woot!!
I need to get my Christmas cards picked out and get started on them this week. I was determined to get all this done early this year.

Susan, Lisa & Shelia

I went home this last weekend to Dublin Georgia for my 30 year high school reunion. Yes, I feel old. It was the best weekend and better than I had expected it to be. It was wonderful seeing all the classmates from 1978, 1979 of course 1980 (#1) 1981, and 1982. It was great seeing and spending time with the ole girlfriends. If you can't decide to go back for yours, you should really go- it was FANtastic.

fall is in the air:

and I am loving it. The cool days and nights and my leaves in the backyard are turning yellow = best time of year
It makes me want to put on a pot of chili for dinner and roast marshmallows over a fire in the back yard.

Today I made a fall favorite of mine that I usually make and take to work.
I thought I would share with you
Apple Cheese Ball
1 8oz. cream cheese

1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp chopped pecans
Ginger snap or graham cracker stik cookies

Peel and chop apple: mix well into a ball with cream cheese, cinnamon and pecans. cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 8 hours or overnight. Serve with cookies

one year ago today oct 9th

we were facing the toughest day we have ever faced in our life. John's surgery for kidney cancer. We did not know what we had facing us and our future and kids were the most single thing on our minds as we faced this day.
We had many prayers from all our friends and family and faith is what got us to today.
We are cancer free minus a kidney and life if good! John is in Canada for 2 weeks on a hunting trip and he is feeling wonderful. God is good!

Clydesdales

Have to be the most beautiful horse in the world.
The Budweiser Clydesdales were in town this weekend at the local distributor and Jacob and I went to see them. He could not believe how big and pretty they are. And what the heck- no free samples!!!!

Fall is in the air....

The weather has cooled off and leaves are starting to turn. It's finally fall. My favorite time of year. Yesterday I got out a few fall decorations to put up around the house.

two new ones I have ordered from the touchstone catalog.

Jacob and I were going to the pumpkin patch today to pick out some small pumpkins for decorating with but it has rained here all day. We will save this for next weekend.
